Hi- I was too keen to put up pics of my corals for a quiz at work and am not actually sure of a couple of their names- can you quickly ID if familiar with them? # 1 some kind of leather?
# 2 fluffy morph?
# 3 blasto?
# 4 green morphs?

Toadstool, mushroom, blastomussa, mushroom, torch, cynarina, palythoa and fungia plate

Toadstool, mushroom, blastomussa, mushroom, torch, cynarina, palythoa and fungia plate

+1 to this. The only one I wasn't sure on was the torch because I couldn't see the skeleton.

Palythoas and zoanthids are pretty close as far as care and very few in the hobby are described down to a species level. In general, palys are bigger than zoas. I can't remember which, but one or the other incorporates sand into its mat while the other does not.

Mushrooms are kind of the same way in that we get down to one of a few genus, but not down to a species level in most cases.

thanks so much for the responses! I have added more pics to show further detail- the one I thought is a branching hammer (torch)is branch like-a bit hard to see as laying on the LR. The green type morphs below which I thought the LFS said corella morph? turns a rusty orange colour and has a long stem off the rock. It takes a few weeks to settle after moving. I had one before but the anemone nuked it. I have posted the base of the polyp type coral as well. Thanks again : )ImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1391456407.641018.jpgImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1391456435.169877.jpgImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1391456466.295875.jpg

Which are these two? The orange swells right up and looks a bit see through and the green swells as well with both having feeders in the centre. If you could respond referring to colour please. Thanks : ) ImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1391456950.081798.jpg Just for peace of mind- didn't include in quiz...this is a blasto? ImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1391457010.902099.jpg

The orange is a cynarina, the green is a trachyphllia I believe (open brain), and the second picture is an acan.

Thanks Rutrag....some are starting to sound familiar now. I do google corals and look at images but there are so many variations it creates doubt.
