Looks nice so far! I don't have much experience with plants either. I also just bought a 20g long and am going to make it planted! I haven't decided whether I should do a dirt tank or substrate though. I don't have any experience with root tabs so I can't help with that lol sorry. I have a 10g planted right now with so many plants and no co2 system which makes me uneasy but they're alive and well so far. Hopefully they'll hold up until I can move them to the 20g. I'm interested to see progress in your tank! :D

Update on my tank added new plants and 20%pwc can anybody id the plants they didnt have the names writen on the tank at the petshop and the guy told me they were easy starting plants

The stem next to your filter looks like water wisteria and the grass like plant might be bylxa jacopa, not sure though.

I was looking up online and the i think it looks like the dwarf sag

Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

Dwarf sag is the grass, wisteria is the bushy one and hygrophila polysperma in the stems in either corner of the tank.

28 watts over 20g is very low light. If your fixture is rated high enough look at increasing to 40watts total over your tank. Still low light, but may work better.
