Discus dying
This is my first post, so please bear with me. I recently purchased twenty discus of various types. They are quarter to half dollar in size. When I got them home, I noticed their poo was white stringy and not normal. I have never had problems with discus before and with saltwater aquaria....until now...and could urgently use your help.
I've had four die since I picked them up from a breeder. The first one was swimming up and down continually and then upside down and gasping for air. Parameters are normal here, and it appeared that he had swimmers bladder. Attempted Epson salt solution though it was too late to save. It seemed that he had excess mucous on his sides that the other discus were picking at him alive until I isolated him.
The second was spiralling in circles then isolated, soaked frozen blood worms in Epson salt though wouldn't eat..had been eating fine the night before.
Third same, all breathing fast, have done multiple aged water same temp aerated water changes, prime added.
The fourth lying on his side and panting.
When I just got home most of the discus were at the top of the tank breathing hard. Another water change. The poo is looking better though not great, still stringy whitish though forming brown. Also, all breathing fast and continue with keeping bb tank clean and more water changes. It breaks my heart to see these beautiful fish die. Do you think intestinal parasites, gill flukes, water parameters read within normal range.
Can you give my any words of wisdom before I lose any more?
Thank you so much!
