When i was doing the math i found building might save a hundred or two. But keep in mind that the tank itself is not the biggest expense.

True, I built my own BIG tank and the filters/heaters/gravel combined cost way more than the glass inc silicone. Consider the stand.



My advice, do not scrimp on glass thickness. If it bursts you could be killed. (Normally side panels are thinner, depends on dimensions and total volume, will save money and weight)

Yea I have a lot of the filtration already so I'm fine with a hundred or two on extra equipment also

No heaters needed because I have turtle he is native to this area
