Hello mar...

The standard way to clean a tank is a couple of heaping tablespoons of standard aquarium salt in a gallon of warm tap water and a clean sponge. Rinse well in clean warm tap water.

I use Dawn dish liquid. If its safe enough to wash crude oil off of wildlife then its safe enough for my tank. Just make sure to rinse it very well just to be safe

If the tank will be used for fish I would highly recommend NOT using any type of detergent (soap,bleach,windex,ect)

vinegar works good as a over all cleaner and won't leave a residue behind it also is a good glass cleaner and it is pet safe including fish
