Im currently setting up a new 55 gallon tank, and i wanted to use my liverock from my existing tank and then add to it, my liverock in my current tank has a little algae on it, and i dont want to introduce anything into my new tank, do you think scrubbing the algae off with a brush will do any damage to the rock itself? I realize that i might lose coraline algae

Not much, it will prob cause a little die off and create a mini cycle in the new tank. Ya could always black out the new tank for a few days when ya put the rock in to kill off the algae, or research the peroxide method to kill off algae. That seems to work great with minimal harm to the other critters.
