What would be the largest heater size you could use in a 30gal with out cooking the fish?

I would get one rated for twice the size of the tank. So for a thirty gallon tank I'd get one rated for 55-60 gallons. In my thirty gallon tank, I have two heaters rated for twenty gallons and one for thirty gallons.

That's what I have in mine now. I think it's two 50 watts? Any way, a 250 just became free for me to use. So I was really wondering if I could use it, to free up a electric outlet. So I don't have to walk across the freaking room to charge my phone haha.

You could do it and tell us how it goes. I've never done it personally, but 1/2 my tanks don't even have heaters
