5 Gallon Waterhome!
Hey All, this is my first attempt at a "decent" sized tank. I originally bought a beta fish and a tiny tank with my girlfriend to see who could keep it longer, hers died ... so I decided to begin with a new, bigger tank.
I can already tell I want something bigger, but this will have to do for now. The problem is I don't know what to add or what I can add in terms of fish or decor to make it better. Any suggestions would be great! The first five are when I bought it Friday (everything, except gravel and bridge came in the kit) The second five are from today, I purchased a Jurgen heater and a new plant. The heater is great - 78 degrees at all times! Thanks for looking! |

Looks great. Aside from adding live plants or perhaps 3 dwarf cory cats or 3 otos, there isn't much you can add to that tank. 5 gals is perfect for a betta. You can add a background, or paint one either blue or black to make the fish stand out.

There are plenty of types of small fish that you can add.
White Cloud minnow Guppy (may eventually lead to overcrowding if there is a trio -1m/2f) Killifish Neon tetra (3 - 5) Cardinal tetra Wagtail Platie (same as guppy) Corydoras A single Kuhlii loach Red Pristella Bloodfin Some of the small dwarf cichlids (would do better in a 10g but 5g will work) Danios (all except Giant) (would do better in a 10g but 5g will work) All are peaceful in a small community tank.
