Convict Breeding

I am attempting to start two convicts breeding so I will have a foodsource for my other fish. I currently have them in a 20 gallon tank. They are fairly small, about 2 1/2 inches. Are they sexually mature at this size? ANything special I need to do? I have been told all convicts need to breed is water. Any and all advice will be appreciated!

lol.. i have convicts and they are worse than rabbits. really,they need a rock face on which to lay their eggs, and someone to walk past with food every now and then. Mostly so they flare up and display to you how mean and nasty they can be, and how you had better leave, pronto

I think you need to put them in jail before they can breed. That way they really can be called convicts. LOL
