I recently got my two largest Bettas to spawn. It was their first time. The female is about the male's size, and she kept slipping from his embrace. When I took her out, there was a lot of eggs in the nest. This morning when I checked on the nest, the male looked rather well fed. I checked for eggs, and there is a significantly smaller number of eggs in the nest. Is he eating them because they won't hatch? Or should I remove for being an egg eater? I had really high hopes for this pairing. It was hard enough to find the female in the first place, and the male was rather pricey. I got the females to set up a Sorority, and female Halfmoons seem to be very difficult to find, even in stores that do stock them.

Edit: Found the eggs, he just moved them to a different part of the nest.

Grand news! Please post how you go? It's been years and years since I bred betta's but always thought it was a fish-keeping highlight from bubble nest to young ones.
