here is our third tank! set up in the bedroom, started cycling last night. not sure where we are going to go with it. it still needs a background, and a couple more fake plants/flowers. here it is so far!! the first picture is with a flash, second without

Nice start! Needs more flourescent orange. ;)

Set up a black light somewhere and you will be set! The tank will gloooow loll. I don't think you can put black lights over the tanks though, won't that hurt the fish somehow

omg we have a black light i can hang... there is actually a black light poster like 4 feet from the tank too LOL!

fluorescent orange, huh? i'll look for orange flowers when i go decor shopping this weekend!!

what kind of background should i go for? something solid? or something else?

lol im just realizing how bad it looks right now with all the wires and junk in the back... it deparately needs SOME kinda background... i was thinking one of those jungle-y plant backgrounds... might clash though... we'll see what they got at the LFS... if i don't like anything maybe i'll go find some fabric i like

:biglol:

added some stuff to the tank. we want to get one more flower just like the pink/purple one, only it's pink/yellow and put it somewhere in the gap in the middle. still don't know how we'll stock it. you tell me what you think will look good in this tank :D

first picture is taken with all the lights off, no flash, same with the two close-ups. the last is taken with the flash on, to show the coolness of the background :D it doesn't really look that shiny, but it still looks really cool.

HAHA I looove that! Very bright. Maybe some of those abino black tetras like severum mama has, they had a black neon tetra too. They would really stand out... or something bright

These were some suggestions from the aquarium wiki. what are your thoughts on these in this tank? i want something that will "go" with the decor, and not be too drowned out by all the bright colors :)

  • 1 Male Honey Gourami, 6 Dwarf Rasboras, 4 Venezuelan Pygmy Corys
  • 1 Male Sparkling Gourami, 2 Female Sparkling Gouramis, 4 Male Endler's Livebearers, 3 Venezuelan Pygmy Corys
  • 1 Male Honey Gourami, 1 Female Honey Gourami, 4 Tail Spot Pygmy Cory, 4 Male Endler's Livebearers
  • 6 Pygmy Hatchetfish, 5 Male Endler's Livebearers, 4 Venezuelan Pygmy Corys
  • 1 Male Betta splenden, 6 Venezuelan Pygmy Corys
edit: thanks LM :D

I vote for option number two! I really like the tacky tank, which is definitely not something I would have ever thought I would. Awesome job. Some Neon tetras would certainly not be drowned out by the colors. Can't wait to see pics!

thanks, SnailPowered!

what caves, mgamer??? there is a cave in there already

I was soooo afraid of what background you would choose but I love it, very groovy and totally fits :)
