Peacocks and mbuna are best kept in groups (1m/3-4f) rather than pairs so one female doesn't get stressed out by the male. I keep fast-growing live plants (duckweed and Najas) in most of my tanks to help with water quality. Mbuna and SA or CA cichlids will eat them though, so those tanks need more frequent partial water changes.

I know, I still have a lot of kinks to work out. Sometimes I wonder if getting the females were even a good idea? I'm still learning. Bottom line is I need a bigger tank.. Shoot, I need 2 bigger tanks lol. Things are actually great today though, everyone is getting along good. Thank goodness :)

Where did you get it? Fragile how? Like brittle, falling apart? Soak it on hot water or boil it. Leach out all the tannins. Like to know where ya got it. Nice piece though.

Oh wait... You went down by the creek didn't you. You were skipping rocks listening to Toby Keith and found that there wood eh?

You won't be sorry either! Love mine. I sent Jess some that I wasn't using and look at the difference! Her tank really is amazing! She worked hard on that tank. Now if I could get a nice piece of driftwood in there lol.

Well, that was really nice of you. I'm starting a new 37g centered around hopefully a pair of bolivians and I thought they would like those stones.

I see very very little ammonia if any at all. And your NitrAtes are doing there job. What is it 40ppm?

How large are your water changes when you do them?

Yea, 40, at least 50% sometimes more like 70%. There is little ammonia, just thought that it should have zeroed out with that many TrAtes... Ammonia seems to be a tad higher than .25 but not quite .50.

IMHO you should reduce the amount of water your taking out unless conditions call for it. I would go to weekly's at 25% and see how that works. 75% is a lot of water to take out just because. I've never seen your levels call for such a drastic water change. Also by taking out that much water it could impact the tanks chemistry and your pH levels although I could be wrong but I thought I read something about that.
