What is the smallest tang?

What is the smallest clownfish?
What is the minimum tank size for the smallest ones of then and a sissortail goby?
Are these compatible?
How much would a 20g cost to set up?

In a 20 gallon you could do 2 clowns and a bunch of corral and inverts and that would be a heavy bioload. You'd wanna do false or true percula clowns. It'd cost you 400-1000 depending on how well you want everything to work, and how much maintenance you wanna do..... Also the clowns will probably out grow the tank in approximately 3 years.

That much!? No live corals?

400-1000 for a reef. The most expensive thin is lights that will grow the coral.

You could have like 2 small clowns, a shrimp, and a crab, then snails and hermits and as many coral as you can shove in there.

But I'd figure you'll spend 600$ on equipment and live rock and live sand.

And that's for a basic set up where you'll do weekly maintenance. If you want a 20 gal that won't need a big water change and constantly watching the parameters and everything you'll need a sump and skimmer leaning you a lot closer to 1000$

I'm not looking for a reef..
I want a FOWLR in a 20g.

1clown
1mandrin dragonet
---
Pods
CuC
A brittle star

Could I do this stock?

The brittle star would out grow it and the mandarin you'd only want one if it didn't eat pods and would eat frozen because they can eat a whole bottle of pods a day. But the price you'd be looking at for that would be about 200-300$

Why so much?
I have the tank already?(using in fw)

With basic fluorescent. T-5 lighting would bump the price up to 400-500$ and you could get some coral like Xenia to help get rid of nutrients.

Saltwater is expensive. Mostly live rock and live sand. If you have the tank thermometer and lights
your looking at 40$ for the live sand, 160$ for live rock, 80$ for power heads.
If you want a skimmer to cut down on maintenance that's another 100$

I could get really good live sand for 29.99
I would be fine and getting a little amount of live rock and more base rock and just let it spread...
Why so much for power heads? Can I use fw ones?i wouldn't want a skimmer...

Well you'll probably need 2 bags of sand. Power heads are about 40$ each I use 2 to spread the flow so it's not one heavy flow area and one less flow. The rock is true but still expensive.

I think you could do it for 2-300$ if u use dry rock and dry sand. You dont need a skimmer if u keep up with water changes. No tangs are suitable for a 20g. U could get a pair of clowns though.

I agree that you could do a FOWLR for $200-$300. Depending on the powerheads you have, you might be able to use those. You don't need live sand. Mainly base rock with a few pounds of live will be sufficient to seed the tank.

I don't think you'd get close to 1,000 if your on a budget there is definitely a way around it. Like most people say CL is your best friend. I got a BioCube with everything for 200$ bucks even fish.

You could find some great deals on tanks if your on a budget. I bought mine cause it was the first SW tank I had. So it was a cheap way for me to get my feet wet.

I really wouldn't. I mean, this is a whole mother level and you aren't really giving basic fw fish good environments, so I think this would really be a good idea to Waugh Mabye a. Year or so till you really know what your doin. And I know that you don't wanna spend alot, but you cans just cut nessacarry things out

What would they be cutting out? A FOWLR tank is less intensive than a reef and the OP said the tank was already uo and running as a FW tank which im guessibg has a filter, heater, etc.

He was just saying like he didn't need power heads and such. Was just saying if your going to invest, I'd spen a little more to get all I want
