I was thinking female only because it is void of blue specs except for on the face. I was told the pointed fins are deceiving sometimes but I'm pretty new at this and I wouldn't think 2 males would hang out next to each other 24/7 but like I said I'm no expert on how JD act.

Yeah give it some more time if the blue only stays on the jaw then most likely it is a female. Don't go by the fins they mean nothing my red devil who is a female has very elongated fins and dramatic lines but she is a female

That's one of things only time will tell after they hit sexual maturity. Jds are hit or miss ime on the aggression scale.

My tank is bare now other than the clay pots and gravel. I had some fake plants but they kept uprooting them and I got tired of putting them back in the gravel.

That's what I got in there so far and 2 weeks with the plants and so far so good
