Not sure exactly how big they are. I know theyre juveniles still. And as far as I know theyre going to have all the color variations available. Idk which two ill pick up? Ill def post pics! :)

That's awesome! My favorite is the golden albino :) did you get them yet? I'm excited for you, I wanna see pictures haha.

Well they were supposed to come in friday but didnt... im going to call tomm and check In yet again!! This store probably is getting tired of me :) I will def post pics. Im not sure which color I'll end up with yet. At first I wanted two but now im second guessing if my 30 is big enough.

haha this is like being pregnant all over again. I got a due date thats come and gone now I want these babies to just come already!!
Lady smoke another question, how do you keep your tank cool enough? Did you buy a chiller? Summers here are pretty warm and im a little worried about maintaining the cool temps for these guys

My lfs had some albino "glow in the dark" axolotls and I realllly wanted one but I live in Texas so I'd need a chiller for the summer. And even the cheapest chiller was like hundreds of dollars

Ive heard the albinos glow in black light, But I honestly havent looked into that much yet. I am leaning towards the albino and I also like the wild green-gray color. I know the chillers are big $$$ so thats why im trying to figure out a cheap alternative. Ive heard alot of tanks are kept in basements to help keep them cool. And also a fan blowing across the top or frozen bottles of water dropped in. All those still seem like theyd have big temp fluctuations which im sure cant be good in the long run

Here's a page I came across when I was looking into getting one with various cooling methods, I was considering using the ice cooler method but replacing the ice would probably become a chore, and I would probably be constantly monitoring temperature with it. Idk.
There are some pretty ingenious methods here though

Great news the axlotl came in yesterday. We went & picked out a wild and luecistic. Theyre about 4" long . Ill take some pics tonight!!

Freshwaterashley have you got any yet?

No i currently have my fish in my 20g high tank and the lfs said they may possibly eat them if i put one in and ive also read in this thread that they need cooler waters, less current and little to no gravel... so in order to get one i will need to invest in a new tank. :/ but i do plan on getting one in the near future... my husband has even gotten into the idea and he makes fun of me for my fish.

I have all livebearers.. mollies guppies and platy and i breed for my hobby and the profit.. i was told that once the axolotl gets bigger my fish would become lunch and breeding would be **** near impossible if something in the tank finds fry as tasty treats

Youre not anywhere near Cleveland ohio are you? I actually had to move 4 mollies and platy from my 30 to my 55 community(which overstocked it) to put the axlotl in. Im looking for someone close to take them if not I'll have to check my lfs. The axlotl are great you wont be disappointed with them when you get them -I cant quit going to watch them. :)...I know how you feel,I have a 30,55 a 90 & 150 ( the last two arent set up yet!) My husband thinks im crazy lol.

No i live in tampa bay area florida... :/ i would totally take / buy them from you :) if i could... lol yeah my husband says that fish are a stupid pet because they do nothing.. idk i enjoy watching them and it gives me joy when breeding and new fry appear, also they are very zen. He thinks im crazy because i want to set up my other two 10 gallon tanks so i can have more fish :) my ten gallon hex tank is for my fry when they grow out of the 1.8 so i just have a regular 10 g sitting around with no use... i sayvit needs fish :p

Im right there with ya! Just need a new tank and a cooler and i can have one also.. me and my husband are doing all the research we can so that we can mke him or her as comfy as possible... then all we have left is to order some from our lfs

I didn't get a cooler for my tank.. I'm relying on central air in the house to keep the tank at a proper temp.. Coolers are crazy expensive! Lol. I just got my guys in Feb, so hopefully A/C is enough for the hot summers in Winnipeg! We'll soon find out!

I used to have Mollies too before I got the axies! I love them. My favorite one died, that's why I decided to make the switch lol! He was a gorgeous calico named Prince William. Haha.

Yeah I'd say youre nowhere near me then! Probably a good thing. Ohio weather's crazy...weve had a 30 degree drop in one day. Its coooold up here :/
Well I guess im lucky my husband doesnt say too much-& when he does it always starts with, "whatd you go buy now... " lol. There is something very zen about it all. You make every tank your own and decide what it needs to thrive. I could sit and watch "stupid" fish for hours!
