Just got my new 40g running and loving the maxspect razor 120w. Ran about 400$ but has a built in controller and comes with a bracket mount and a hanging mount.

Would this led fixture work just fine? It doesn't have the taotronic brand on it but it does have the same contents. It also says the light degree is 120, what does that mean? And what's the difference between this one and the taotronics that go for $170? This ones about $40 cheaper.

Taotronics sells a fixture that use to look just like that one with the same specs. IMO it looks fine. Let us all know if you buy one .

Seems to be identical with the same type and number of LEDs except the whites and blues are with opposite counts. The 120 deg is the lens. The 90 deg will narrow the light to make it brighter at lower depth of tank.

Yeah im considering buying it but there are a ton of the same to choose from. I dont know if one is better than the other or not. It a whole lot cheaper than the taotronics but its name is just 120w led. I do like how the blue ratio is higher than the white though. Does anyone know what makes this one different from the ones that cost $170?

Really that's awesome! That being said, I'd like to ask you some questions lol. Was it the same price when you purchased it? How's the shimmer and the lighting? Not too white looking? What tank is it over, and how high do you have it above the tank? And how did you hang it? Sorry for so much questions lol.

That's cheap. they are really coming down. You definitely want more blue than white. Turned all the way up, they look like a 14-15k....The reverse would look like 10k IMO/IME.
The shimmer is just like metal halide.

If you're handy with electronics, you could try to modify the power input to the lighting to allow for dimming:

LED aquarium lighting with an Arduino based PWM timer : DGK Electronics

Improved Arduino LED lighting code

Or, you could use an Arduino powered servo motor to rotate the knobs automatically (that might be simpler, as it's a basic function in Arduinos to be able to control servos to move by X degrees per activation).
