Is my ryukin goldfish ok in a 5 gallon?

That's great! Looks like you are going to save a lot of money over buying the tank new (and get a cooler tank IMO). :)

Yes, I'm really glad I found this. I don't really need the stand as I have a desk but I'd like to save that for a few 10 gals I'm gonna get during the $1 per gallon sale for breeding guppies so the stand is really great.

I probably wouldn't put a 30 long on a dresser anyway. I had a 29 on a dresser for a few years and even though it was fairly sturdy furniture (real wood, etc.), it seemed a little weaker after I tore the tank down.

I want to use black diamond blasting sand instead of the gravel that comes with the tank. Is it safe to use?

Sweet make sure to still move over your bio bags to get a huge jump start in cycling for your goldfish! Can't wait to see your fish in his new home!

Yep, and I got a test kit too (finally!)

I added the black diamond blasting abrasive and as expected the water clouded. It's settled a bit now but is it ok if I hook up the AC 70 with a pre filter sponge to keep the sand from being sucked up? Or should I keep waiting?

Can you upload a pic of how murky water is? If you have a sponge attachment you should be alright

The light fixture was actually bad but I can get one from Home Depot for $20. The water is clear enough to see through a bit, and all the big sand pieces have settled.

Alright set up that filter let it run with the bio bag and filter media from your 20 gallon for about an hour then add your goldfish he should be fine.

All right, will do! When should I put the media back in the 20 and use the new media that came with the filter?

No leave the established media in for about 2 weeks then put in your other media for your new filter to. That way you can take out your old media in 2 weeks and you won't have to do a new cycle.

How will my 20 gallon do for 2 weeks without the bio bag media?

Also, there is a big air bubble in the intake of the AC 70. Water is still filtering ok, but it's making it louder. Could it be the sponge blocking something?

Umm, so should I put both bio bags in the AC 70 then move one to the AC 50 or just put the new bag to the AC 50?

The PH in the new tank is a bit high, around the 8 mark. What should I do?

I would say put both in the ac 70 do you have any sponges or other filter media in the AC 50?

I'm not to good about the seeding filter thing I would make another thread asking about seeding filters if I was you.

Well I don't see much of a need for a new thread. I just needed to know if I should put both the bio bags in the 70 or let one start growing bac in the 50 on the established 20 gallon tank.
