I'm sorry to Sy that that plant is not a true aquatic plant and will most likely rot in a few weeks but you are welcome to try I failed at growing a similar species.
This plant is used more as a terrarium plant and edgings on lawns so.....
Merry christmas!

Haha thanks. I love how you put that. It made me laugh. Why do they sell it as an underwater plant? Its so confusing

I have no reason why they sell these type of plants it is probably a scam to make money. The plant partially grows in the water but only about 1/4 submerged. They know that it will survive in the tank for a little maybe weeks or even months but it will eventually die. And usually the pet store chains have no idea what they are selling. Like me and many others if I see a plant that I have never heard of before I will buy it just because it is a new plant.

I will go down there after xmas is over and complain until i get free replacement plants. Im very very stubborn and get very angry when sold something wrong. True enough i should of researched but it was an impulse buy and i shouldnt doubt what they sell. Or should i?

I think a lot of us impulse buy I know I have countless times. If you see something cool you buy it and then do research when you get home. Sometimes this just doesn't work out and sometimes you discover something you really like. Sometimes it is worth the risk

Anyways back to your flourish, this should be able to supply most of your micro nutrients and macro nutrients as I know it has phosphates, nitrogen, iron, and manganese. Which is not all the micros and macros but this will certainly help.

So if i were to upgrade my lighting, get my co2 setup complete, start dosing my flourish, buy excel, is there anything else you would suggest?

If i were to go with the Fluval p24 that would give me 1W per gallon. Would having two of these fixtures make it 2W per gallon? Prob a very silly question lol

It is hard to judge leds by watts because it puts out more par than the t8s or t5s which that method is made around. I would say that one of those fixtures would be sufficient for medium to high light which I would recommend a co2 supplement or co2 injection. But if you have 1 watt per gallon in LEDs I would say that is high light.
I think that eventually if you like your high tech setup you should switch to dry ferts. Because it will supply you with more macro and micro nutrients.

If that led fixture is suitable then im happy to buy it but i need to find a way of making up a lid. My tank has a real earthy smell when left open and its in my bedroom. My girlfriend would never put up with it!! Lol

Got rid of my kyoto plants that were unsuitable. Ordered some of these. Sagittaria platyphylla. Hope these are better lol. Any opinions on them?

It turns out the black on my anubias leaf rubs off. Some type of algae maybe? And if it is, will it come back and how do i properly treat it?

Possible Algae

It turns out the black on my anubias leaf rubs off. Some type of algae maybe? And if it is, will it come back and how do i properly treat it?

Hello Sk...

Very likely a form of algae. Up your water changes to 50 percent weekly and reduce the amount you feed to a variety a couple of times weekly. Algae typically grows in water that has too many dissolved nutrients. The water changes will help keep the the water chemistry stable.

Anacharis also called Common water weed, Brazilian water weed and Egeria Densa is a good floating plant that will use added nutrients and also gives off a mild chemical that discourages the growth of most forms of algae.

Keep the tank water healthy with large, frequent water changes and your fish and plants will do fine. They've been doing this job for quite a while.

A picture would be very helpful. Are you sure it's black? Take a look at these pic's and see if any look like what you have, especially the blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) which can be black...

Should be a photo at beginning of post but i can try and take a better pic when i get home if needed. My leaves didnt look like that. It was black and kind of slimy feeling

I couldn't see anything on those pic's which is why I asked. Black and slimy, was it also in like a sheet form? When you rubbed it off did it peel off or did it just dissolve into the water the way diatoms do when you wipe them off?
