Dimensions are :
length - 100 cm (40 inches)
Width - 40 cm (16 inched)
Height - 50 cm (20 inches)

The question is what medium-big cichlids can be in this tank ?

Looking for diversity and really looking for having maybe 4-5 cichlids and i want them to be as big as possible (all males) and all different species

Would be great if you guys could suggest me some :)

Hope to get great response and thanks in advance

What kind of cichlids are you looking for? African, new world, etc....

Do you have any examples of cichlids you like?

That is what im asking you guys :) buuut

I like green terror , severum , jack dempsey , frontosas , texas cichlid , oscars and some others i forget for i just woke up hah

But these guys are all too big for my tank , thats why i wanted suggestions :)

All males

- convict
- firemouth
- salvini
- blue acara
- rainbow cichlid

Is this a good stock ? Or could i get fewer and bigger ?

I wouldn't try a salvini with those. The salvini will most likely kill them all

I've tried the blue acara with a fire mouth in a 4 foot tank and that didn't work for me either. The acara was too aggressive for the firemouth . wait for mog or freakgeco to chime in on this. They know better about mixing than me. I have species only tanks now because I got tired of them beating on each other.

This is actually very helpful in providing advice. Some people define cichlids as blue and yellow fish that come from the african rift lakes so getting an idea of what you are thinking of is actually a great thing.

All males

- convict
- firemouth
- salvini
- blue acara
- rainbow cichlid

I think you are struggle to get 5-6 CA cichlids to play nicely in a tank this size. The H. multispinosus is pretty peaceful but the rest may be aggressive. Especially the acara and the "C". salvini. A little hard to tell how a single specimen will act as I have mostly kept pairs but definitely risky.

If you are open to it I would target more peaceful fish. Some things to look at.

Mesanauta species(Festivum)
Heros species(Severum)
Aequidens metae(Yellow acara)
Laetacara thayeri
Cleithacara maronii(Keyhole)
Mikrogeophagus altispinosus(Bolivian ram) - These are peaceful enough that you could even do a group.

- convict
- firemouth
- salvini
- blue acara
- rainbow cichlid
- blue eyed cichlid
- cuban cichlid
- panama cichlid
- t-bar cichlid
- balzani eartheater
- brown acara
- demon eartheater
- green terror
- keyhole cichlid

These cichlids are all central\south american cichlids which are most likely to be aviable to me ,

Could you all do a stocking idea from this list , the bigger the better :)

These get too big for your tank or are too mean to be combined:
- blue eyed cichlid
- demon eartheater
- green terror
- cuban cichlid
- salvini
- panama cichlid

These are all moderately aggressive - not sure how many you would be able to combine. I think it would be partially up to luck and individual temperament
- convict
- firemouth
- blue acara
- t-bar cichlid

These are fairly peaceful and could probably be combined. The keyholes may be too passive for the other two though.
- rainbow cichlid
- brown acara
- keyhole cichlid

This fish requires cooler temperatures for part of the year.
- balzani eartheater

In summary, these fish are not easily combined in a tank that size.

1 festivum costs 85 bucks where i live pretty darn expensive
That is crazy

A convict and a firemouth and rainbow cichlids are a must (if the rainbow can be with the 2) what could you add with these trio ?

Are you absoutely sure the salvini couldnt be with this trio?
Or the blue acara ?

The stock i have in mind right now is the following :

All males

Convict
Firemouth
Rainbow
Blue acara
Salvini

And

Convict
Firemouth
Rainbow
Severum

Tell me what you think :) i will respect your opinion

You could try it. It may work. Just be ready to remove him if it don't. I'm just telling you what happened when I tried it.

The thing about blue acaras is that they are highly variable in temperament.

You could get one that is so peaceful and passive that it gets bullied by those other fish or you could get one that is unbelievably territorial and shreds fish 5 times it's size. Honestly, the extremes I am presenting here are not that uncommon.

Fishes can be so complicated , i just really lile the colour on bot of them , but what about the 2nd stock ? And in the 1st stock what could i replace the acara and salvini ?

Your list of available fish is so small it is difficult to make compatible recommendations.

I think you should be looking at small - medium cichlids, not medium - big ones. Big fish require big tanks, and that is especially true for keeping multiple large territorial fish. Quite frankly your tank just isn't that big.

You've been given good advice in your thread - I think you should follow it.
