Get yourself some prime. Seems to knock ammonia nitrites and nitrates in a snap

Checked my parameters when I got home with my puffer and the ammonia and nitrite had skyrocketed! found a somehow surfaced root tab. Now I have the puffer waiting in my snail tank because I can't get the ammonia below 0.25ppm. Nitrite returned to 0ppm. I've literally done 10 50% water changes and it will not drop below 0.25ppm.

Whats the ph of your tank?

I have way too many bottles of prime ? prime is only a temp fix. This ammonia keeps buffering to 2.0.

Out of the tap it's straight 7.0 and is that way in all my tanks except the SW.

I have way too many bottles of prime ? prime doesn't fix the underlying issue of what's buffering the ammonia.

I cleaned and prepared my qt tank for the angels I'll hopefully buy today. Found the plastic that covers the gap between the glass top and the back of the tank so now it's completely covered. Used some seeded media from the aquaponics system just in case I lost my bacteria colony since the filter hasn't run in a while.

Cleaned my filter on the 55 for the first time in a few months. It was nasty.

Made some very long posts on Instagram about the importance of cycling a tank and the 2 main methods of doing it the correct way. Hoping to raise awareness.

Didn't get the angels but here is a picture of my qt. I'm hesitant to introduce angels with my rainbow shark, but they are all larger than half dollar size.

The wife is becoming more into fish other than the Molly's she's had for awhile. She bought a blood parrot a few weeks back, and loves it dearly. Last week we stopped by the LFS to grab some NLS pellets since we ran out and seen two young BP's in one of the tanks their, she resisted and we left with only the food. The next day we were out running errands and she asked if we could stop by the LFS again so she could buy the BP there that "was calling her name". It's hard to say no sometimes! So here is her two BP's, Perry and Polly. Polly has lost all her dark spots and is starting to get some red/orange in the gill area and base of her tail. Very entertaining fish to watch.

I also brought home another mystery snail that day. Never seen one with a shell like this!

Glad she's supporting the hobby!

Me too. For the past month, every time we go to any of the LFS she walks to the SW section first like a little kid seeing it for the first time haha. I think a 55g FOWLR may happen once we get moved

Ooooo! Go for it you won't regret it. Stick with small fish so you can have inverts and they won't get eaten. I never loved inverts as much as I do now since I have cleaner shrimp that will play with my hand and crawl all over it.

I COMPLETELY redid my 10g puffer tank. Changed the substrate for brand new with no root tabs as of yet. Puffer is acclimating.
