Trimmed the tank this morning and pulled a bunch of plants out:
vWwBZOt.png

Starting at the top going left to right:
1. Rotala macrandra
2. Blyxa japonica
3. Downoi, Bacopa caroliniana
4. Rotala 'colorata'
5. Limnophilia aromatica
6. Ludwigia sp. 'Red'
7. Pogostemon erectus
8. Pogostemon quadrifolius
9. Eichornia diversifolia
Got some new plants from Tiger Terror. Removed the Eichornia diversifolia and Blyxa japonica. Added Blyxa alternifolia, downoi, Lobelia cardinalis, red myrio, and Fissdens fontanus (from my shrimp tank).
Before:

After:

Wanted to give the Fissidens another try in medium light. Was doing okay in the shrimp tank though it was getting drab. The red myrio (behind the moss) is new for me; fingers crossed.

Here is the new downoi:

Did you get the downoi from me? What did you do to them? Well, glad you enjoyed them. Quite an investment on my part. Hopefully I can keep them healthy.

I agree with pitt, tank doesn't look like a 20L. Your ar mini looks nice and healthy What's the background plant on the far right?

The plant in the right rear corner is Pogostemon stellatus. Sometimes referred to as P stellatus 'octopus'. It has long thin flowing leaves. I got a few stems from a member of a local fish club a couple of months back. It has been slowly growing in the corner. I kind of forgot about it. In the last few weeks it had taken off so I trimmed and replanted it. I'm hoping to get a nice stand of it going. From what I've read, it is a demanding and difficult.

Looking great! The computer started me back to your first post. I was envious of that piece of DW!!! And shocked you took it out! Now your tank is a wonder from what it was.

That was 1,829 posts and 2 years, 5 months ago. Yeah, that was a nice piece of DW. Probably better for a 29g or 40b due to the size. Or at least an open top tank. It came from a much larger piece in the garden. It had flame moss on one branch and Java moss on the other. Brought it to the LFS for a 20% coupon ? I would have sent it to you had I'd known.
I would do more hardscape but it's a battle for real estate with the plants.

20% coupon ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

Thanks...now you tell me you would have sent it to me, 1831 posts and 2 years 5 mos too late...

Maybe a stand up Spiderwood /Rosewood piece though your tank is beautiful all the time -through all the evolution. (y)

Something that has more height though. (This is just as an example, the one I have in my 12G.)

I did not know you then ? This was my first thread after lurking for about 9 months.
When it comes to plants and hardscape, the plants usually win out. If this tank had a larger footprint or if I had fewer plants then maybe I could strike a balance. DW tends to collect algae in my tank.

The AquaFertz Total and Phosphate root pellets from Aquarium Plants dot com arrived and I used the handy dandy pellet injector to push them into the substrate. I had success with them early on and giving them another go.
Trying to get the Myrio red to grow (thanks TT). Very slow starting out so far. Will look nice next to the Pogostemon erectus:

Here is a very short (22s) clip of one of the otos in the planted tank. Nano fish in the background milling around like extras on a movie set:

#TBT and Video
Here is a pic of my tank exactly one year ago today:

A short (54s) video from last night. I'm finding the fish are swimming out in the open pretty much all of the time (not just during dinner time):

I did trim about ~60 stems off of the staurs patch to thin it out. The AR mini kind of went downhill after that though it's on the rebound now.
I hear you about the CO2 and DC colors. Mine was yellow for a while at around 3 bps. I decreased by a minuscule amount and it has been blue blue blue ever since. Increased it a tad yesterday and will see what it is today.

Love the myrio...tank is looking great!

PS I killed the macrandra. It was doing great then full of holes then disappeared. I've been really bad. :(
