A few hours later and the royal gramma has been hidden since introducing him. He is hanging behind the rock work. I also made catching the scooter blenny sound easy, it was not. I had to remove much of the live rock so while I had it out I rescaped alot of the tank. I also broke a 7 pound chunk into small pieces and spread it through the tank. It opened the tank up a lot and leaves some room for the polyp covered rocks I'll be adding once were ready to start with corals.
I'll also have to get positive IDs on the hermits before adding anything sensitive. They were all supposed to be scarlet leg hermits but they started hiding when she started netting and I believe two may be different though I haven't gotten a good enough glimpse since adding them.

On to the nano, for some reason this tank gets cloudy each time I mess with it. I'm not sure what's going on but after each water change it becomes very cloudy. The top fin 10 filter wasn't doing the job so I switched to a fluval aqua clear 20 with fresh carbon(while preserving the bio sponge from the tf10). Once the carbon expires I'll switch to purigen.
Any opinions on the source of cloudiness?
The co2 system is pumping nicely into the tank, im still just using an air stone under the filter output to disperse co2, i was planning to run it into the output of an in tank filter or powerhead but i cant find anything small enough for the nano. I'm still using gravel but hate it. I plan to plant the hair grass and bacopa tonight if things go according to plan.

Not uncommon for grammas, they are a cave dwelling fish for the most part, and IME sw fish are usually "shyer" after being introduced than the fw counterparts.

Mine hid for 2 days before coming out and now mostly just lays on the zoas and peeks out of her cave. I wouldn't worry about the hermits to much other than knocking stuff over. The only problem I've ever had was one, a red leg was climbing all over my new clam and got the boot to the sump

Yeah I wouldn't consider the behavior odd, just a slight sense of concern since the fish store employee dropped it in an empty sink!! She quickly scooped it by hand right back into the bag but it was still pretty frustrating. I started to tell her to keep it but honestly thought it deserved to escape the 5 gallon tank they had it inside.

I had a severum dropped on the floor a month ago. Never had a problem before now but I have had 2 dropped fish in a month. Each time the pet store worker has been pretty nonchalant about it, meanwhile I'm tripping! I took the fish in anyway in both cases just to get it away. The sev is happy and healthy, I'm hoping for the same for the gramma.

Yea hopefully they are ok... its crazy i used to work at a pet store and if i dropped a fish id have felt horrible and apologized profusely like i thought we were all animal lovers ?

Now the Royal Gramma is just showing off!

Finally its out and about. Loving the colors on this guy. Stocking is coming into focus a bit more, were planning for the gramma, fire fish, and a goby of some sort, maybe a yellow watchman or court jester. Not yet set in stone which type.

How bigs the royal? Mine started about .75" and is now pushing 3" around 2 years later. The purple really darkens up as well. Beautiful fish :)

Around 1.25 inches.

Got the plants into the nano tonight, pics as soon as it clears up.

Sweet! Im a fan of the nano, more colors.

But the SW looking aight too!!

Your a lot better aquascaping than i am hahah! Good job!

Sent from my bed, the only space available to me that isn't smothered in dirty laundry or aquariums.

Everything looks nice! Love the nano! Have you been seeing any growth out of the DHG? I am really tempted to try some, I've been eyeing one of those gel packs of it at PetCo for a while now lol. Plants look really healthy! Are you going to switch out the substrate for sand? Easier to plant in, grow plants in etc.
All in all everything is good! Can we get an FTS of the SW please? :D

Back when I first bought a Rd the owner took it out and it jumped out and fell straight into the tiny container sitting on the floor. Let's just say that was luck.it was a 5 inch btw

Yeah some new growth out of the dhg, im not very optimistic though, i know how tough it is to grow. I do want to make the switch to sand or ecocomplete in the near future. The diy Co2 seems to be delivering so far.. only dosing api leaf zone aside from that. I'll try to get a FTS on the reef soon!

My dropped severum has done great, I was pretty concerned initially but he has done well. So far the gramma is OK, just hiding a lot. Still somewhat frustrating.
