Maybe a large Rubbermaid container or tote. You could either place it next to the pond or float it in the pond, periodically adding pond water to it.

I like this idea since I have the Rubbermaid. Tape flotation around the edges to keep it leveland this could be a solution.
My filter sprung a small leak again. Time to seal it up with silicone....

Where is the leak? At the lid or around the pipes?
You should think about a gravity design* filter. Either up flow or down flow. Very little pressure, less chance for leaks.
Downsides of a gravity design filter is in the return pipe and proximity to the pond. It has to maintain a certain slope (for lack of a better term) else it won't drain properly. This could result in the filter and/or plumbing being too close to the pond or in an unsightly position.
*Not to be confused with a gravity FED filter.

Does the lid screw on or is it pushed on? If it is the former, would Teflon tape on the threads help seal it?

No it is a snap ring lid with a plastic ring. I've got foam weather stripping as a seal right now. The foam is just compressing now and not sealing properly. A piece of rubber would give me the seal I need, but instead I'm going to use silicone.

Hmmmm...is there enough of a lower lip under the lid for a clamp to attach to it? Either the pliers style spring clamp or "C" clamps?

The issue is the sealant material compressing. Right now it's a slow drip and there's no noticeable loss of water. I've got the silicone on the caulk gun so that's how it's getting fixed. Plumbers putty could probably work as well.

Tis the season for leaves! In the spring I get the maple tree helicopters. They eventually sink if you don't attend to them.
I found that barley straw extract (or actual barley straw) is great for algae control.

All I have are oak leaves, but it's directly underneath two trees, shop there are a lot of them.

The tannins are good for the fish and food for the micro critters.
