    Betta tankmates

    I know many won't agree, but I had a betta mixed in with 3 gold barbs for years and they did great together. The gold barbs, in my experience, seem to keep to themselves. There was also a handful of rasboras in this tank. It was 20 gal by the way.

    Yeah....they have staked out areas at opposite ends of the tank. The Brichardi are especially protective and don't allow anyone near the nest. It's pretty cool to see how the two families share the space.

    I probably wouldn't use anything more then a two years old just to be on the safe side.

    I'm not really sure....I have a yoyo botia myself that eats primarily flakes intended for my tanginyikan cichlids and his colors have remained consistent throughout the three or so years I've had him.
