Personally I would go for a canister so your intake can be set-up closer to the bottom of the tank. I like the fluval's, but they are the only ones I have ever used.

Sorry but I mused your post pseudomugil. Are you recommending that I do the rusty cichlids instead of the acei? My lfs unfortunately doesn't have any in atm.

Alright right now my plan is to do 3 groups of 6 and to not add any additional ones if I have any losses.

I don't have a plan for the holding females. I will most likely let nature take over in that department. Should I consider a female only tank? I don't really want to have to deal with a bunch of cichlid fry. As for aggression with the red zebras is there another species you'd recommend instead?

Personally I never change my cartridges or foam until they are literally falling apart. Changing them simply destroys your beneficial bacteria that mainly live in the filters. As for the carbon I don't use any in my tanks since I don't feel it's necessary but in general it should be changed...

Even for shrimp that's quite same IMO. Perhaps a snail or two but nothing more IMO.

Wow that's almost insulting considering that the saltwater one is always 15-20 dollars more in my are.

Maybe someone with both filters rated for a tank of equal volume could calculate how many cubic centimetres of media each can hold. If i would have two of similar size I would do it myself but a c3 and a AC 70 are not meant for the same size tanks.

What kind of moss is that?
