New Bullies in town... then out...

Where they are building the nest the kuhlis never went. They haven't started chasing anything away from it yet. I actually just saw one of the convicts go straight into the nest and they didn't bother chasing it away. But where the kuhlis usually "hang out" was overtaken by one of the CAEs. T...

New Bullies in town... then out...

So my tank got over its minor little infestation and so I decided it was time to get some new fish. So I decided on some cichlids that were already paired off, convicts and some others that are called "firebellies" but I don't know the exact names. Some friends of mine had them and they are...

just another reason never to release your fish into the wild...

I too watched a show on the snakehead and they claimed that the initial fish (which happened to be released in the first lake that the snakeheads were found or something along those lines) was released by a guy who bought the fish for an ailing relative (to make some time of food that was...

How not to come home from vacation.

As far as how they got in? I just got a whole bunch of new plants and some new fish. I also got some planaria and a snail. I really wish I had got known of it but maybe the snail... Alas. Retaks-That is highly unfortunate. I would have parasites over a spill 210 gallons of water anyday...

How not to come home from vacation.

Minor update- BN has reappeared and is just as voracious as ever. No external signs of worms that I could see from the brief moment he was in view.

How not to come home from vacation.

The 1 dose per 5 gal wasn't for the jungle. that was for the salt treatment- it is supposed to make the leeches disconnect from the fish. (I hope :) ) I have used this (Jungle) on my Kuhlis before and they didn't die. They were a little more finicky than normal but there didn't seem to be any...

    Kribs with GBRs?

I wasn't planning on keeping them all. Growing them out to a decent size and then selling them off to the LFS. What would be compatible top dwellers that aren't especially bland?

    Kribs with GBRs?

Hello! I have decided to use my 55 gal as more a dwarf cichlid variety and I wanted to start fairly easy, kribs, but I also was hoping on fitting some GBRs in. So I was wondering if they are compatible and if so, what m/f ratios would work with them? The tank has quite a bit of driftwood and...

    Striped Raphael Catfish: Compatible?

Alright thank you all! I happened to come across some juvenile bristlenose plecos (5 for $25, in town they are 29.99 per...) so I opted for those over the raphael. If they weren't so small still I would have gotten it but I would rather have a secure size on the BNs before getting a catfish.

    Striped Raphael Catfish: Compatible?

Thanks Zagz! I will pick 'em up tomorrow after work :) Is it too tight/riskish to put the GBR pair and Krib pairs together as well? (or should I jump that Q over to cichlid?)
