Loaches I actually bought a couple of Clown Loaches, thinking that they would get rid of the 'brown algae' in my tanks (that was not the only reason why I bought them), but they hardly touch the algae. I guess I was totally misinformed and should have done my homework better. LOL

Fins The gravel is probably the reason as to why their fins have deteriorated, especially if the corys are kinda jumpy and tend to dart off. Sooner or later the regular gravel will damage their fins or barbels. I'd like to advise you to buy smaller gravel without sharp edges. This might work...

Thank you Thank you for your feedback. I will refrain from getting a new Betta then, because I want a reasonable amount of current in my tank for my Corys; they love the current and actually like to swim against the waterflow. That is because of their natural habitat.

Be patient. It took my tank approximately 7 weeks to get fully cycled. Soon enough your ammonia level is bound to rise. Keep em fed and it will all come naturally. :) No need to buy more Danios. I would wait with that.

You might want to test your tap water for GH and PH. That might explain those two values. Normally your nitrite level drops after a water change. At least, that is my personal experience. If you haven't overfed them and if you didn't disturb the bacteria, then I don't know what could have been...
