Ohhh, haha, sorry... My apologies... I didn't catch the sarcasm in your message. xD Sorry about that.
Shouldn't science teachers know this sort of thing......?
Thanks for keeping the peace mfd. Good work. :]
Anyways, for what it's worth, I've lost three guppies in the past week... And that's with good parameters. It's a sad thing, so I can commiserate.
As the other ladies have said, keep trying to get that ammonia down and keep us posted on your...
Not sure about the Walstad book.
Although replacing the filter and adding carbon probably isn't going to help your fellow teacher. He just cut his bacterial colony in half... Carbon is generally used when trying to leech meds out of the water. Otherwise it sits there and looks pretty.
He...
Came home today and found one of the guppies hadn't made it and another was displaying the start of clamped fins.
Did a 50% PWC, no salt, will do another tomorrow.
Had some flashing before I added the guppies, used some salt in combination with elevated temps, a good gravel vac, and PWCs to help remedy it.
Haven't had any flashing since.
Oof, that's nasty. Yeah, my friend has a tank too and he doesn't really care to take the full care of it that he should. He says he's "just not into it" like I am.
So I did parameters and PWC for him this weekend...

Then I noticed another guppy is...
This Nova looks like it has the right mount for using a glass top with it. So if you want to use a glass top with a fixture and stand, something like this would work. There are others that I've seen that use bars much in the same fashion. So long as the mount holds or fastens to the outside...
The temps have been stable at 76 for the past few days. Seems pretty good to me! No jumpers either, although evaporation has become a bit of an issue. Nothing more water can't fix though.
Thanks for everything guys!
Feel free, actually. I'm interested too. You can get good fixtures that have the mount built in. I don't know the brand but all it does is sit atop your trim and the outside of the tank.
The ZooMed fixture requires you to attach the mounts to the inside of the tank too. Allows you to shift the...
Love it! Haha, convenient to have your tank right next to a sink, huh?
Also, can you recommend any good CFLs with Edison fixtures? I would like to perhaps get two some time and use it to cover the blind spots of my 22-inch T5HO's. Especially since two of my higher light plants needed to be in...
