    Balas in a 75?

I am setting up 75-gallon FW community. I started with three little Buenos Aires Tetras and I have added three little Bala "Sharks." I've had the Balas for a couple of weeks and now I have a question about tank mates/tank size. I thought I would get a Rainbow Shark and a couple Clown Loaches...

    Filter For Quarantine Tank?

I think I like your idea, f250god, since I already have an pump. The QT will be empty most of the time and probably will not cycle, so frequent water changes would be necessary anyway in a 10-gallon. How do I make this simple sponge filter?

    High pH question

Thanks all for your suggestions. I have placed a nice piece of driftwood in my tank that I had intended to use anyway...didn't know it would help my pH problem. The African Cichlid tank is a great idea for these conditions, loganj. They're some of my favorites, but they'll have to wait until my...

    Filter For Quarantine Tank?

I have a 10-gallon QT filled with water from my main 75-gallon tank, heater, airstone and some pieces PVC pipe for cover. I plan to keep a little filter running in my main tank, ready for use when I need to use the QT. Any suggestions for a filter for this little setup? Thanks.

    High pH question

My 75-gallon community tank is cycling now. It's my first try at keeping fish. So far I have three Buenos Aires Tetras as starters and three little Bala "Sharks." My question is about the pH. My tap water is 8.2 and I have done nothing to adjust it. I have heard it's better to have it too high...

    "New" Tank Cycling

Thanks, freek. I guess it's about time for a couple more Balas or some Clown Loaches or a Rainbow Shark. :D

    "New" Tank Cycling

I kept a fairly large pair of Red-Eared Sliders in a 75-gallon tank for many years. About a year ago the turtles were adopted by someone else and the tank has been running with a Fluval 304 all the time the tank has been empty, with no heater and with no maintenance other than topping off the...
