Sorry to bring this post back, but I did the black out and the algae got a lot better, but was not completely gone. The algae has come back, and I can't figure out what's causing it. Any Ideas?

I have this algae growing all over my substrate (eco-complete). I can pull it out fairly easily, but it grows back very quickly. does anyone know what kind of algae it is and how I can treat/prevent it? It's growing in my 60 gallon planted with diy CO2 and two T5 HO bulbs.

In my experience Siamese algae eaters will eat small amounts of it, if there is a lot of it in your tank you may want to considor a bleach dip. What is the BBA growing on?

I think it just comes down to preference. I don't think I've heard of anyone being too displeased with either product. I prefer eco-complete because (as azmodan said) you don't have to wash it before you put it in your tank, it comes in larger bags, and it's cheaper on amazon.
