I would play it safe and buy new bulbs. They're not that much honestly. Go online and see for yourself. Also, unless you want an excessive amount of algae in your tank, don't put in direct sunlight.

I would suggest going FULL sand. I had mixed feelings, however my corys and my African dwarf frogs love it! My frogs dig holes and my corys sift through the sand all day!
Hello there! This happened to me before. It's a specific type of algae caused by too much lighting. I know it sounded weird to me, but once I turned my lights off earlier, day by day I didn't get any algae. Also, the pleco may or may not get rid of your algae. I suggest a snail :). Good luck!
