Treating ich, question about apple snail and shrimp.

My 55 gallon tank has ich so prior to treatment I bought a 19 ltr quarantine tank with a basic fitler and small heater to put the apple snail and shrimps into. Obviously the small tank is not cycled so I am having to change water regular, but still the apple snail does not look too happy. Have I...

    Apple snail eggs

Imagine my shock when I lifted the tank lid this morning to be greeted by a clutch of eggs the size of my thumb. I would assume they have come from my apple snail. They must be unfertilized as there is only one snail in the tank..... I am assuming that would be true and 2 snails would be needed...

    Apple snail

Yeah, my apple snail has a breathing tube that must be around 4 inch long, it's quite impressive. He normally gets it out as he approaches the surface.

Thanks for the reply, the little guy is hiding out under some bog wood..... I think I will take a bit more care when cleaning for the next few weeks. My water parameters are: Ammonia 0, NitrIte 0, NitrAte 10-20. I did hear that when doing water changes if you replace the water with slightly...

    Baby Cory

Imagine my suprise this morning when I saw a baby cory in my 55 gal tank. I wonder how long it has been in there as I have been vacuuming the gravel, cleaning plants, lifting bog wood out and cleaning it, I am very suprised it has survived. Anyhow I can tell he is a peppered cory as he has his...

    PH levels and ammonia.....

Hi all, well I am pleased to say that I have eventually got through the cycle with a 55 gallon tank and what a relief to have done it without losing any fish. I didn't intent to do a fish in cycle but had no option, but thats another story!!! Any how my problem, well its my mothers problem, is...

    Gravel Vac Fix

Usually at the top of the vac tube there is a one way valve which stops water flowing out of the syphon tube, this works when you move the syphon up and down in order to start the water running. Sand may have got into the seat of the valve causing it not to shut properly therefor preventing the...
