Hi, thanku for replying and apologies for my late reply.
I have a all sand substrate in a 90L tropical tank. No ferts or carbon source. I don't have any experience in keeping plants and I would like some advice in keeping low maintenance plants alive.
Ill attatch a pic of my tank.
Hey guys,
I have just bought a plant (Limnophila) and would like some advice about keeping it alive in my tropical aquarium.
I'm not looking to have a co2 system or a special substrate, I understand I'm not making this easy.
I currently have a sand substrate that this (for now) single plant is...
My sister has a 35L tropical tank and has a massive problem with algae (see pic). I remove it and it comes back really quickly. Is there anything I can do to keep it at bay?
Here's my tank as it is at the moment. The Fish in it are not being kept though. I'm thinking some tall plants behind the rocks and maybe a picture background.
Can anyone help with plants, stocking or any other ideas?
Cheers

Hey guys,
I'm in the middle of moving house to a place with no carpets. I have to take my carpets up tonight and they are getting laid tomorrow afternoon in the new house, hence why I can't just move my tank. I have a friends tank where I can keep my fish tonight. My question is, if I take water...

If she has no filter, what's the best way of cycling the...
Thanks for your thoughts. How much do you recommend changing and when? Its approx 12L.
And at the risk of sounding stupid, how would the whole process work? How can the beneficial bacteria build up without a filter and with more water changes?
My sister bought a goldfish bowl yesterday. After setting it up and spending the night with it in her bedroom, she decided the under gravel filter is too noisy. So, she's asked me if she can run it without the filter, to which I've answered yes, but you will have to do more water changes. But...
I left mine soaking for a month and a half and never had any problems. Granted I had to wait all that time but just changed the water every few days to start with and reduced amount as time went on. Soon came round and water in my tank hasn't suffered.
My little sister is looking to get a smallish tank for her room and looking to house a male betta. The tank she's looking at doesn't have a light, would this be a problem for the betta. I understand if she wants a live plant that will require a light. She may have a spare desk lamp if that's any...
