    Hammer coral

I'm not really sure if it came loose. It seemed very secure and looked like it had a strong base. I'd like to glue it to another frag but I can't find a base on it to secure it.

    Hammer coral

The strangest thing happened to our hammer coral. We've had it for months and it was doing very well. This morning I topped off the tank with RO and everything was fine. When I turned the lights on a little while ago, I noticed the entire top of the coral was missing and I found it on the sand...

I thought they were ocellarus clowns (spelling?)

    Clownfish changing color

I have had my 2 clowns for about 1 month now. They seem to be fading into black - one more than the other. Is this normal?

    Slightly smelly water

Our tank actually cycled pretty quickly - we used live rock, live sand and live water. After two weeks our levels were perfect. I'm going to go with the larger water change and see what happens.

    Natural nitrate reducer

Do I need a protein skimmer in order to use it?

    Natural nitrate reducer

As anyone used instant ocean natural nitrate reducer? My nitrate level has been at 20 since we added fish. I know it's still an ok level, but was wondering if I should try to reduce it back to 0 now.

    Slightly smelly water

4 days ago we added our first fish to our 3-week old 14g Biocube - 2 clowns and 1 sixline wrasse. We had an algae bloom which seems like we are getting under control with the addition of chemi pure. If you get close to the water it has an odd odor. Water check indicates o ammonia, 20 nitrates...

    Biocube lighting

We are getting green algae although some spots look orange or brown. I'm not sure if we have checked specifically for phosphates. We are new to this and might be without knowing so excuse my stupidity. We use the 5 in 1 test kit and ammonia kit.

    Biocube lighting

Any suggestions for how long we should leave the lights on in our tank? We have 3 small corals, 2 clowns, one six line and a blood red fire shrimp. We have been getting a lot of algae growth over the last 2-3 days. What's considered appropriate lighting?

    Pulsing xenia

I have to check. We don't keep the LEDs on 24 hours. We cycle the lights throughout the day/night. Tonight we turned off all the lights to see if it helps. We have a Biocube

    Blood red fire shrimp

Thanks. We're new to this and hearing tons of different things to do! It's a bit overwhelming getting it right! We're going to turns he lights off and see if it helps!

    Pulsing xenia

We have a new Biocube and some people were suggesting leaving blue LEDs on all night to simulate moonlight, then turn on the actinic lights followed by the 10k daylights to simulate the rising/setting sun and moonlight. What would u recommend?

    Blood red fire shrimp

Anyone familiar with the behavior of the blood red fire shrimp? I know they're nocturnal and like to hide, but the one I got 2 days ago seems to have found a spot it likes and hasn't ventured far from it. It hasn't eaten the pellet food either. We only have 3 corals and the shrimp so far. Any...
