Idk if you're getting red cherry shrimp I'f you're only paying .33$ I think you might be talking about ghost shrimp. And yeah cherrys are among the easiest to breed. Just leave em alone and they do their business!

Na the yellow tint in the water is coming from the tannis leaching from the new pieces of drift wood. I also use tetra backwater that results in a water tint. The fish like it and I don't mind the coloration.
