Well.. here's what happened since my tank cycled... Got 8 guppies of various colours then a week and a bit later I got 4 glowlight tetras, I've bought 5 yamato shrimp of which one committed suicide by getting out the tank somehow, two then miraclesly disappeared. Got 2 Red cherry shrimp and one...

I like to keep things humerous ;-) off course I meant to say his weee little mits, but good old technology,and me not paying attention, my phone decided mutant was a better option.... And in a way was quite appropriate, God only knows what the poor shrimp was thinking at the time when this...

Hi, cheers for that info. I was aware of shrimp and their molting habits... In regards to the Nitrates, my tap water chucks out 10-20ppm so I do my regular water changes, done two of 10 ltrs so far, my next one will be a 20 ltr one... We replaced the amano escape artists with 2 bigger ones, they...

The recommendation is,should u want to use food/shrimp as a source of ammonia, to put it in tights and let it hang in your tank, rather than just throw it I your water....

I wouldn't use food to get the ammonia to build up... That's just my opinion. I found using purr amonia just did the trick ;-)

I'm fully stocked now. 8 guppies 4 glow light tetras, 2 red cherry shrimp one Ted crystal shrimp and added today one assassin snail. The aqua pure are a little friendly bacteria bomb, so these add the goodness to the tank and stay in the filter one would presume.... So far so good...just got to...

My ammonia and nitrites are 0, I cycled the tank in 21 days using pure ammonia and used aqua pure balls... Water quality is good, Nitrates are 20ppm which is what I get out my tap, also change water once a week now, second change tomorrow.

Hi all :cool:, Last night I was adding a few new fish n shrimps to my tank and found that the water flow from my filter was really slow, on second inspection I noticed that the top of the filter was totally gunked up with beige sludge and something which resembled a shrimp leg. Is it normal...

Not sure of brand, but I feed my fish tropical fish flakes with added vitamins (well it says that on the tin ;-) I'm now pretty much fully stocked... Got 8 male guppies, 4 glow light Gerrad, 2 red cherry shrimp, 1 red crystal shrimp (man is he tiny though)... Then I had 2 amano shrimp, one...

well our snails came as part of the plant package ;-) unfortunatley they have spread like wild fire :-( Now I was up for getting some assassin snails in one or two, quite liked the dwarf frog idea also... but frogs dont really get on with small fish/shrimp as they can be a tasty snack for them...

well... we did have the plants in there and the air bubbles... then came the snails and the algae ;-) which 2 shrimp made a quick meal of.. blyme they pretty much cleaned up the algae within 48hrs of being in the tank

do the shrimp and cory catfish get on? I had a friend of mine who had 2 angel fish and some guppies, he introduced 4 cherry shrimp and they, believe it or not, became an expensive snack for someone in his tank... they were only wee so my guess is that the angels might have gobbled them :( As for...

how bigs your tank... I'm sure the aqua pure balls had a saying in how quick I managed to cycle the tank... Guppies seem sweet, supposed to be pretty hardy fish so a good starter for myself - and my eldest chose... he had a choice of freshwater fish and went for the guppies... now we need to...
