Yes one Common or comet goldfish for that 20gal would be good. Anything under 3 inchs. Once its bigger he needs to be rehome'd to a 40 or larger imo. I keep goldies and they are the destroyers of plants. If you get a fancy you will just make him suffer as 80% of them suck to much air get it...

The only thing my goldies havnt totally devoured was my anubus but i still see them going at it likes sharks from time to time destroys a leaf or two as they see fit. If they are single tail i havnt found anything other than anubus that mine wont eat. The fancyer kind dont eat as many plants. So...
