Thanks for all your stories and recommendations-- do you think it would be o.k. to leave the gravel in the tank with maybe an inch of water? Or, would that cause too much stress on the tank seals?
I've only had my aquarium for 6 months, so I don't need to completely clean it out like Ashley...
I'm moving to a new apartment in a week and need some suggestions on the best way to move my fish. The drive will be about 30-45 minutes. Any and all advice is appreciated. If I need to separate species for the move (put in different containers, etc.) please tell me.
Depending on what community fish you have, you could get a betta. My male betta is the most active and interesting fish in the tank. Despite their behavior in those small cups in a pet store, once they have a whole tank to swim around in they are pretty active and definitely have personality!
I wouldn't have 2 males... see if they have a female, or just get another kind of fish. My gourami really never picked on the other species, so I wouldn't worry about getting 2 males so they pick on each other instead of other fish.
The largest and most long-finned of my danios constantly chases the other two around. Like you, I sometimes worry that the danio's too aggressive and will stress all the other fish out. But, I've had them for months now, and not had any problems... So, to second what everyone else has said...
I had one dwarf male gourami in my tank with guppies and they got along fine.
Also, if you notice any problems with your guppies in general, I would recommend getting some females, as they generally do better socially with more females than males.
The antibiotic didn't come with instructions except for the amount per gallon (drop per gallon). Should I be doing daily pwc when I'm treating my whole tank with antibiotics? Should I be putting the antibiotics in everyday?
Brought our golden algae eater to the store tonight-- they wouldn't let me trade him, but they did take him back. I got a cute little otocinculus, and he's doing well so far. Since I've removed the gae, all the fish seem to be a little perkier.
