All,
Thinking about buying a new light for my 120 gallon planted tank.
72" lights are really expensive, so I thought about getting 2 36" T5HO lights.
might buy these:

Thoughts?
or should I...
I am moving to Misawa, Japan (northern tip of Honshu Island) in September. I have decided I cannot part with my 150 gal Freshwater Planted tank, so I am taking it with me. When I set it back up over there, I want to move into High Light and Pressurized CO2
My dilemma is this:
Do I buy a Co2...
So I just set up a 125 gallon planted tank. I am running 67K and 10K T5HO lights and I am dosing with Flourish and Excel once a week w/30% water changes.
I am growing Vals, crypts, wisteria and anubias. Java fern too.
I have never done CO2 before, but I am thinking about it because I would...
hello,
considering the purchase of a UV Sterilizer...need some advice.
Any recommendations on type/brand of UV sterlizer?
-I am leaning towards one that does NOT require a pump to circulate water...
Does the UV sterlizer need to run continously? Would it extend the life of the bulb by...
I think I would rather get the FX5....cheaper than buying 2 405's and only one canister to clean! I have had some problems with algae blooms recently....what is a good size/type of UV sterilzer to use? Make sense to get an in-line UV unit since I will be running the FX5?
anyone have...
Thanks! Looks like the overwhelming majority is for canister filters?
I had a bad experience with a used one I bought, it leaked B A D. You guys dont that that problem? or is a little leakage a fact of life with canisters?
Getting ready to bring up a 100 gallon planted tank. I'd like input on the best method/type/brand of filters for such a tank.
factors to consider: using combination of black sand and eco-complete for substrate.
plants do not like too much turbulence in the water (?)
lots of small tetras...
I have (had) 10 mystery snails cruising around in my 55 gallon planted tank, and every few days I find another one stuck on the HOB filter intake. This is killing them! either by trapping them there or actually pulling them apart. My wife rescued one this morning, I hope he makes it.
Anyone...
I have a 55 gallon planted tank that suddenly turned green...I had no idea algae could pop up that fast!
my question now is how best to control/remove the algae without hurting my plants?
PWCs?
blackout? (how long to kill algae but not plants?)
or just cut the light timer down? (6hrs per...
Will be in El Paso, TX next week....does anyone know of any good fish stores?
my interest is mainly focused on freshwater and planted freshwater.
appreciate any suggestions!
thanks
Scott
So am I doing okay with what i have set up? any other suggestions?
Any other plant ideas (that I can order or buy online) to fill up my tank? I'd like a few tall plants in the back, a couple short plants for the foreground or something that is really low, like moss, to cover some of the...
Hello all,
I got all the plants in this 55 gallon tank for free. I thought a good start to my first planted tank.
FYI: I have 2x54w T5HO 6700K lights and 2 Actinic lights on the tank at the moment.
substrate: Eco-complete.
just started dosing: Flourish Trace and Excel
These pictures were...
I meant to say that I think the algae bloom was caused by mistakenly setting the light timers to ON for 22 hours a day. (on at 7am - 5am) I fixed this mistake after the tank turned green. So now it is set for 7am-5pm. But the water is still green.
One of the 48" bulbs burnt out (probably...
