I have no clue about the rules. Don't really care either. Yes, they were all caught locally. Bass and largest bluegill were caught while fishing.

Why not do a couple 75% water changes right in a row? As in drain 75%, fill it back up, drain 75%, fill it back up, drain 75%, fill it back up. Not waiting days between them. This should get the nitrates back down to a safe level right away and then just monitor it every day and do a 75% PWC...

I got my 55 gallon on ebay for $66 from someone local. You could try there and do a search within x # of miles from your zip code.

Are those compatible with my Kenyi and Labs? Eventually I'll have 4 of each (1 male/3 females), so 12 cichlids and 1 pleco in the 55 gallon tank. I'll have plenty of rocks/caves by then too.
