ever have a cory rocket out of your tank?

It's weird to compare what fish everyone says they have that do it. My albinos and emeralds definatly do this, but my clown pleco does not... weird thing is all of my Brothers plecos do. (2 commons and 2 royals)

    Neon Green Spot

Yeap, I agree with the above posters. You'll find colors on fish you would never belive. For instance, my "yellow" panchax, when I turn the light on for the day he displays an extremly vibrant purple on his head, which gradually goes back to the normal bright yellow.

Added a new fish...Not sure what kind though.

haha... I just spent about 15 minutes looking at those pictures trying to find a "fish".

    Got my first Pleco today!

Just wait until he settles in and his colors come in. When first added to the tank (And in the morning when I turn the light on), my clown turned the whitish brown yours seems to be. But man, when they feel comfortable, his browns become soooo much darker with the whitish brown stripes...

is it true that ALBINO cories are blind??

Yep, LunchBox is right. At first, they can be pretty shy, but after a few weeks, they shouldn't mind you coming up to the tank at all. Mine actually start nosing around when I get near because they think its dinner time.

    Top Dwellers

Picked up a Yellow Panchax (Killifish) the other day at the LFS. Not only are they top dwellers, thier body is shaped to be a top dweller. Very cool looking fish. Especially cool when he eats because he zips across the surface of the water, but doesn't make a single wake because of his body...

    clown pleco

Although I've never seen my Clown eat flake, he does come out when flake is being added to the tank, so it could be true. The driftwood & algae tabs are esseential. Thats his cave. He sits in there almost all day (unless food is added) and munches that cave bigger and bigger.

    A few pic's for everyone.

Hey everyone. My two tanks are running great and I owe a lot of it to people here. A few pics as thanks =p My Clown pleco on his gremlin: Yellow Panchax & Flame Gourami Buddies: Yellow Panchax (w/ Flash): Look Close: Closer:

What about when water is too warm?

Some may say thats to high. Honestly, i don't really know. The only bit of in-sight I have is that my brothers 55-gallon runs at 84f, about to hit the 6year mark too. The only way I've seen him loose fish is either due to old age or a genetic deficiency.

    Fire blamed on pet fish

No offense taken =p I was actually glad you chimed in with that, because at the time of my original post, I only considered what wires "I" have to run, and didn't take into thought that other people with larger tanks/more accesories could run into a problem.

Seachem Prime or Kordon Amquel Plus

I'd say Prime. It may seem a little pricey at first, but it is super-concentrated, so you only use very small amounts each water change.

    Fire blamed on pet fish

Bleh, I knew an electrical guru would prove me wrong =p I know about cabling, but I have a very small watt setup. The three wires combined disapate almost no heat. Cabling mostly comes into play when building a house (hence why it is against new house code). Its more dangerous to cable...

    Mixing Gouramis

I kept a dwarf and a flame gourami together for awhile until the dwarf passed of an internal parasite, had no problem at all.

    Fire blamed on pet fish

Tip for anyone with the problem I had: My tank setup wasn't really located near an electrical outlet, and I wasn't about to use an extension cord (not only ugly, but can cause problems in the long run). Simple Fix: Take a thin cloth, wrap it around all of the cords in one section as tightly...

    Jungle Labs parasite clear tabs

Ok, sounds like I'll have to go pick some up. About the sensitive species, this is what I have: 3 Zebra Danios 4 Corys 1 Clown Pleco 1 Sunset Gourami 1 Dwarf Gourami (the only one the appears sick) 1 Otto Are any of these very sensitive to the parasite meds? If so, is there another product I...

    Jungle Labs parasite clear tabs

Hey everyone, as some of you may know my Dwarf Gourami seems to have some sort of internal parasite. A few people here suggested I try the Jungle Labs product to try and clear it up, but I have a few questions: 1.) Is it ok to treat my main tank? Unfortunatly I do not have a Q. tank, so the...

    Algae Eaters

Otto's for sure! They go through algae like wildfire. One suggestion though, although I didn't loose the 2 I bought, you should plan on buying 2 or 3 extra, because a lot of people say they are hard to acclimate to the tank.

    Dwarf Gourami wasting away

Could anyone explain how I would go about using a product like that? I've never had to treat for anything, so i'm new to dr. fish scene. I don't have another tank, so it would have to be treated in the main tank. Is there a good method for this?

    Dwarf Gourami wasting away

Ellllo' everyone, Having a problem with my dwarf. He's staying in the corners not moving much. He still swims, but not much, only to move from 1 corner to the other and stay there. He very rarly eats. I usually put flakes in first, which everyone else chows down, he doesn't. Ocasionally when I...

    flakes versus crisps

All the fish in my tank go crazy for the crisps. I use the crisps because i always found when a fish hit a flake, it causes a million little bits to fall down below my decent sized gravel (I hate it), but the crisps usually just break down into a size that doesn't fall through the gravel as...

    quick cory question

I use some Tetra crisps for the higher water column fish, which also gets the cories excitied. Then I add either a few algae wafers (For pleco & otto, but my cories love them), or some Wardley sinking shrimp pellets (probably thier favorite).

    Bass and Bluegill

Nice bass! I'm guessing you got it from some local place in Florida? It's amazing to see the differences in bass just because of locale (Mass.)

    Light Brown/Bronze Algae?

Update on the Otto: I can't belive it. I put him in the tank and almost immediatly he went to work on the brown algae. This is a 10-gallon community, and already one of my fake plants is almost completly clear of brown algae! Hopefully he'll make it through the transistion because I heard a...
