Could you overstock the tank like is done with cichlids to prevent aggression? If breeding isn't the goal say 3-4 in a 30-35gal?

I'm planning on moving my tetra school from its 10 gallon tank into a 30. If I use all the same water/sand/plants into the tank to start it off, do I still have to cycle it? Would upgrading the filter mess this up too, because the one I have on the 10 does not have the flow rate needed for the 30.

Well it wouldn't be the first time a vendor sold pet products that weren't safe for pets. It sounds like it is probably safe but I think I am going to save myself the headache by keeping it out of the tank and on my windowsill instead.

I just picked up a really nice piece of sodalite at the local gem/mineral store, its a really handsome stone that looks great when wet, which got me thinking about using it in a tank. Does anyone have any experience with this mineral and do you think its safe for the aquarium?

Given the reviews people have given these filters I think you're right about having a dud. Either that or its just a quiet hum thats significantly magnified by the placement of the tank.
