    Tropheus duboisi in community tank?

I had to transfer the Tropheus to that tank because I have a johanni that teared the tropheus fins apart. But I noticed that the tropheus fit well there so I left him.

    Tropheus duboisi in community tank?

That depends on the fish. I have a Tropheus moori with guppies, zebras and german rams and none of them are hurted by the tropheus. :P

    ph always rising

The Wood is not miraculous. It will lower it a little bit but it won't lower the PH from 8 to 7. It is going to lower the PH few points under. Test the PH 48 hours after the water change and there you'll notice if whatever you take from the water stopped the PH from raising.

    ph always rising

Hyrules I have the same issue on my tank and believe me, the vinegar test it's true but not always the right test to do. I have a PH problem on my tank due to my sustrate and the vinegar didnot showed me the sustrate was buffered. Take out whatever you think is affecting the water and wait...

Go find a tree of Almond, fetch the dried leaves from the floor and insert one dry leaf for every 10 gallons. It is going to lower it in 24 hours. warrantied. ;)

How do you do your water changes?

I think this is a misunderstood. I'm not talking about reducing time changing water. I'm talking about water parameters, temperature, treatments etc. All the things that need to be done in order to not affect the fish each time you change water. Even a monkey know how to take out water from a...

I already did a DIY background from Styrofoam and Concrete but did not used because it altered the water parameters a lot. I want to have Discus in this tank and thats why I discarded the background.

    Do cement and Discus mix?

Anyway I won't install the background on my current 55gls. I'll store the background just in case I get a new tank in which I could experiment.

    Do cement and Discus mix?

Regarding your wonderful idea, I was thinking about how to maintain it underwater. The plexi works for not to damage the back of the aquarium and may be it could do little help about floatability but I don't think it may be heavy enough. I was thinking about using some kind of hook to hang it...

    Do cement and Discus mix?

Sicklid your idea of the plexiglass is very good. I never though about it. Now I feel more confident about installing the background. That's the best idea I ever heard. You just made my day.

    Do cement and Discus mix?

Triazole, if you come here to pick it up it's yours. :P I give it a try last night just to check how it looked underware and that thing began to float. It was so trong the force it did to maintain it's flotability that it almost cracks my fish tank. I think I won't install it after all. I don't...

    Do cement and Discus mix?

Good question Sicklid. I really dont know because is the first time I do something like this. I don't know how hard is going to be to remove the algae. But I don't expect algae to grow on the background because the tank is not exposed to the sun. I have another fish tank, a 30gls one that was on...

    Do cement and Discus mix?

I have not started to cure the background or installed it yet so I still have options left. I definitely want to keep discus on my tank so may be I'll finish discarding the background. Don't know, may be I'll keep it on my room just to remember how much time and money invested on it LOL. I can...

Do anybody here have worked with waterproof sealants? I've heard this is used for making ponds.

    Do cement and Discus mix?

Is the waterproof sealant the solution to keep away the concrete to buff the water? What about how safe is to use this sealant on a fish tank?

    Do cement and Discus mix?

I know that KH and PH can be managed by a lot of things but think of a water change. I'm going to have a hard time trying to mimic the tank water to not impact the fishes at every water change. This is something that is been bothering me for a while. But since I've been very motivated with the...

    Do cement and Discus mix?

I have not installed the background yet neither filled the tank with water. But the water parameter that I got from the plumb is 7.4. I just wanted to have some advice. Regarding how much diftwood do I have on the tank. I buyed two driftwood pieces of about a foot long. They came from some...

    Do cement and Discus mix?

I'm just following some DIY tutorial to create a rock like formation background using styrofoam and cement. I'm almost done with the proyect. I was wondering if it was safe to have discus on this tank? The tank where the cement/foam background is going to be installed is a 55Gls one. I plan to...
