Ok, so this shows up in my tank out of nowhere. It appears to be some sort of egg sac, but this tank only houses goldfish, asian filter shrimp and nerite snails. So I'm puzzled? What do you think....

Sounds like Malaysian trumpets. I had a couple of ramshorns and common pond snails hitch a ride on my plants. The pond snails have very quickly taken over. Oh well...

I could put him in a bucket (about 4 gallons) but it would be unheated. I could keep my room temp at around 21-22 C. But wouldn't that be too cold for him?

Even filter feeders?

So, I've heard that when a shrimp moults, you should leave the moult in the tank and they will eat it, which is apparently a good supplement to thier diet. But, I'm wondering if this applies to bamboo/wood shrimp. Being that they are normally filter feeders, I'm not sure if they are even capable...

I did actually think of that because they are pretty tiny, but I checked my filter when he disappeared and found no trace of them. I don't think the little plastic impeller would be powerful enough to make mush of them, would it???

Ok so, one of my five neons has completely disappeared. There is no sign of it anywhere. I did a PWC tonight and carefully checked through all the plants and even lifted the drifwood in case there might be a body trapped under it. I don't see any explanation for this unless the dwarf gouramie...

Yeah, I did the veggie oil thing as well, after a tip from someone on here. It was indeed very simple, not messy at all, and I loved the result.

I have 5 little neons in with a dwarf gouramie. I've only had them for a few days. The neons are certainly small enough for the gouramie to eat. Are they known to do this?

They have those at the Pets Unlimited here. But they cost $22 :evil: Looks like a useful tool and I wouldn't mind having one, but I don't think it's worth $22. $8-$10 sounds about right. Sigh :(
