Also does anyone know what warm temperatures and a little salt do to freshwater shrimp? I have about 4 with 2 over an inch long and I don't really want to lose them.
I read the article and I think I have a Tetra that has Ich. I raised my tank temp to 86 degrees and added a little aquarium salt. I also am running my UV sterilizer and air pumps 24 hrs a day until I turn down the temperature.
However I have a question....
Fish are cold blooded and live at...
My Co2 system has both an electric plug that is activated if the PH goes to low (Too much Co2 in the tank). I plan on setting that plug up with a air pump that will kick in if the PH gets below the too low and hopefully outgassing my aquarium. I also plan on running only when the lights are on.
I want to use course sponge and cut it into a triangular configuration for the corner of my fish tank where I can hide the intakes to my filters ect.
Does anyone know where you can get cheap filter media? Would Wal Mart or some other store have anything similar that you can use?
As an example...
I have been going to Dr. Fosters and Smith to get supplies as they seem be fairly inexpensive. I am planning a planted tank 48"L X 24" Wide and would not mind getting my plants on line. Dr. Fosters and Smiths have a plant section but I was wondering if there are better places to go. Does...
I know that a wet dry will out gas any Co2. I want to do a heavily planted aquarium with a Co2 system. If I use a sump with an overflow box would that out gas all my Co2 as well? It would be nice to have a sump that I can hide the heater and anything else I do not want in my aquarium. Does...
I plan on taking the heating vent out of the floor and sealing that up and run a drain into our drain system under the house. I plan on tapping into the fresh water line and run it to a filter and then into the tank via a float valve.
Thank you, I believe I have ruled out the wet dry. I did find aquarium float switches at Doctors Foster and Smith. I think I will just have a small pump on a timer that pumps the water out and that would trigger the float that refills the tank. I am going to get a filter system so the water...
I was thinking of the toilet refill float. I also would not might doing a wet dry or a sump. Does using a wet dry though get rid of all the C02 in your tank? I want to do a heavily planted fish tank.
Does anyone know what one would need to set up an auto water change system? The plumbing where my fish tank is going to be would make it really easy to set up an automatic water change system. I just do not know how to do the actual system or the equipment needed.
Actually I was thinking of using the RUGF as the best means to get Co2 and fertilizer to the plants rather than just injecting it into the water column. I would use a canaster as the main filtration and any filtration that the RUGF provided would be secondary to its main purpose. The RUGF...
Does anyone know if you have to clean a reverse flow undergravel filter once a year like a regular UGF?
I still plan on doing this and will give you a full up date of how things are going.
I did not think about roots growing into the RUGF. I would think I could do something like lanscapers...
I want to do a heavily planted aquarium stocked with fish. I am thinking of putting in a reverse flow undergravel filter with a low output and then run my Co2 and fertilizers through the filter. That will allow more time for the gas to disolve in the water as it works its way through the...
