I did a water change yesterday and might have shorted on the aquaclear. now it seems the color has faded and they are stressed a little but the lateral lines on all of them are highly visible when they turn away from me. I have never noticed this before in times of stress. Anyone offer any insight?
I use half a coconut shell with a 3/4inch hole drilled in it. they love it. I have taken it out and they just stop trying to spawn. I bought some new kribs and they took to it too.
Coppersafe stays in the water for up to a month. dont add a second dose unless it gets worse not better. give it a few more days. Carbon will not remove the copper from the water thats why it says to not remove it. I use coppersafe for ich in my tanks and I have never had a problem with...
I always use coppersafe to treat ich. I dont like to mess around with my temps like that. Never had any problems getting rid of it in less than a week.
I have a fire pit that can take care of it. I thought about duckweed and I am still wondering. Im mainly wondering if I need a fountain pump at all. I figure if the water isnt oxygenated enough it wont support good breeding.
A small air pump and air stone would be helpful. If your doing daily water changes evaporation shouldn't be any problem. Get a valve that will allow you to adjust the airflow.
are you planning to bury yours too? I figure the temps would be uncontrollable without the help of the ground. I also put mine in a mostly shaded area and will place a half cover (southside) to give the guppies a shady place to go. I plan on placing water hyacinth in it to allow the babies...
If you didnt clean the filter out it should have some bacteria left in it. I woudl advise getting a good canister filter and packing it with bio media of some sort. That way after everything gets back to normal you have more biological capacity.
I have had a clown loach mistake my finger for a frozen cube of bloodworms. That'll freak you out. biggest clown in a little under 6 inches so his mouth has quite some power. My fish usually investigate the python from a distance.
When you do a 100% change that will happen alot. Its called an alge bloom in the water. Give it some time and do smaller 10%-25% water changes weekly. Or you could take a drastic measure and put chemicals in the water (bad for fish) What kind of filters are you running on said tank?
It depends on your filtration. I have a river current set up on my 55 gallon with a large power head connected to a PVC pipe that runs under the gravel to the other end and up to a large sponge. That acts as a good bio filter. I also run a fluval canister filter that has all but one chamber full...
I just buried a 25 gallon plant container in the ground and lined it with some 2.5 mil plastic. I plan on keeping a few trios of guppies in it after it warms up to tropical temps.
I was wondering if anyone else has tried this and what kind of results/setbacks they experienced. Ive been...
