Good move. Yes they do have algicides on/in them. A guy was draining his koi pond for lceaning and bought a small pool and put his koi in it after filling it up. They all died from the algicide. The little kiddie pools is a different animal.

I had the same problem. I used Algae Destroyer and it did not affect my lilies. I used have the dosage though. It knocked it back. I see no reason why you couldn't use the recommended dosage.

I use the little kiddie pools all the time. No algicide in them. They come in 6, 8 and 10 foot diameters. A 6 foot diameter pond is over 200 gallons! You'll be amazed as to what you can breed or grow out in them. I do not use the inflatible ones because one puncture and you're in trouble...

Cichlids work for me. They'll make short work of them. Problem is cichlid are not cold hardy so they have to come in evey year when the temps get below 65 degree F.

Clean the pond and pump as suggested.
As for the raccon you can put some netting over the pond. Helps with birds too. You can get this at a Lowes or Home Depot. Its out in the gardening section. Its used for deer and bird control. Or you can search the web for a motion activated water...
