Acrylic fabrication: a how to (dail up sensitive)

I get often asked questions about acrylic and building techniques. So, I thought I would take the liberty of posting a step by step pictorial of a project. I had a little over 1/4 sheet of 3/8" continuous cast acrylic and decided to make a 15 gallon acrylic cube tank. I hope you all enjoy...

Finally all done but the settin up! (CUBE Pics)

Well, I got her running. Here's a couple of shots. I clouded up the water again a little arranging the rocks just before adding a few corals. There was no noticable cycle as I expected since I used 50% of the old tank water, LS, and LR. Here's a shot from above on the catwalk and one of the...

    tank placement and reef soup

Well, I learned a lesson the hard way. For the last several months my 72 Gallon bowfront reef with large sump/fuge had been doing awesome. I was beginning to beag about how stable the system was and the growth. I hear all thea talk about heat issues with Summer coming on. I shrugged it off...

    Halide UV issues?

I have begun a little research without much luck on the Coralvue (or any) halide bulb UV issue. When I first got the halides they severely burned a large merulina colony and killed in within days. This conclusion of course comeing after closely monitoring water conditions and perameters...

Ever been burned in your reef? I don't mean like touched the bulb burned, I mean SUNBURNED. Last night I did a lot of arranging and epoxy using for colony placement. Basically I had my right arm in the tank for a couple of hours. I woke up this morning to a painful sunburn like a farmers...

    New Rose BTA

Well brndfrb and I went to a local reefer meeting today and each came home with a rose BTA. There was a vendor there with I would estimate a dozen awrsome looking rosies on his way to deliver them to a LFS. He sole them to us at the LFS's cost of $50.

    Oceanic 30 Gal cube.

I have loved this for quite a long while and my LFS doing a price match with some other competitor has them on sale for $139 with the cherry stand! What a deal on a tank that usually runs close to $300. I am tempted... My question is, if I bought it I would want it to be a SPS tank, but there...

    LUNCH!

I wasn't sure where t put this exactly so I chose the photo forum. I had initially thought tube anemones were way underrated. Most stay fairly small in aquaria, are non mobile so they generally don't sting other corals, and are quite beautiful. Or so I thought. I have a tube that under newer...

    Merulina SPS

Hello all, Just wanted to show the new colony -ahem- reefside of merulina I recently bought. It is apporx 8-9" across the base and 5-6" tall. The bright green really glows, but like a clam it is better viewed from the top. R-

Hello and thanks in advance. I have a long tentacle plate coral that was givin to me by a friend. A few days ago I noticed something. It would normally expland itself quite regularly to HUGE proportions (12") and retract through the day or overnight periods. It was moving itself little by...

    'Nother ID

I picked up a few corals today but his one has my a little stumped. It definately a softy and the best way to describe it is young and looks like cheetos stuck on the rock. I fell in love with the color. And if you look just to the right I got the bonus patch o' star polyps. Perhaps an ID on...

    Calling Zo-experts

It always amazes me to find new thing growing here and there. These, which I believe to be a Zoanthid of some kind popped up out of no where. This is as about as open as I have seen them. There are about 5 polyps and stay mostly closed but seem to open up a tiny bit more everyday... Positive ID?
