5 watts in 4 gallons, basically lousy lighting, which is why I can only try to grow java fern and moss.

What plants survive at low pH & low light (6.0 or under)

Thanks for the advice guys. BS, I can't use ADA soil because of the undergravel filter stuck to the bottom of the tank and soil would just clog up the filter. It really is a useless tank. For now, I have java moss and java fern, let's hope it works. I can see my plants alright with the light...

What plants survive at low pH & low light (6.0 or under)

I know my lighting sucks. It's one of those lousy 4 gallon baby biorb I got as a gift. Baby biOrb Silver Aquarium Kit at PETCO Frankly it's pathetic with an undergravel filter (can't put fine gravel needed for plants), tiny surface area due to the spherical design and a puny 5 watts which can't...

Can my cycle be over in just 4 days??

Hi guys, as I have posted several times regarding cycling my new tank, I think my cycle is over, or is it? I purchased my tank (29 gallon biocube) 4 days ago and bought many of plants and fish at the same time (not recommended by lfs). I set up the tanks and added fish immediately. For...

What plants survive at low pH & low light (6.0 or under)

Hi, I am keeping weitzmani tetras in a 4 gallon and they absolutely MUST have low pH (5-6.5). I am aiming for 6.0. The tank also has very weak lighting because the fish dislike bright lights. 5 watts at 4 gal (1.25wpg). Furthermore, I am using small pebbles for substrate so the plants cannot...

Can I use amquel to add fish immediately?

Thanks guys....I am currently doing a silent cycle I guess. I have success silent cycling my 8 gal and I bought lots of plants for my 29, hope it works. I also bought 4 freshwater clams to help keep my water clean and added 2 pouches of biospira for the extra bacteria. Does biospira really work...

Can I use amquel to add fish immediately?

Hi, I just got a 29 gallon biocube and just started adding alot of plants and water. Is it safe to add Kordon's Amquel and then add fish immediately? The back of the Amquel (NOT amquel +) states that it will not interfere with the biological cycle. So, if I use Amquel with ALOT of live...

    white spot on head

Hi, 2 of my black morpho tetras have a white spot on their head. I thought that it could be a hole in the head disease but pictures I saw of infected fish online shows more than one hole on each fish so I'm not sure. The tetras are still swimming and eating fine. This one does not even look like...

Am I bypassing my nitrogen cycle? 8g biocube

Hi, I have set up my biocube 3 weeks ago and because I have not done much reading, have decided to add fish only two days after setting up. My LFS gave me a bag (approx 3 cups) of "dirty water" which is basically water squeezed from a used sponge with brownish dirt and was told this would...

    Hi!!

Hi, this is my first attempt at a planted tank. I do not have much experience as an aquarist and hope to learn alot from this forum. My previous experience with freshwater would be having neon tetras and guppies years ago when I was a kid, obviously I had no idea about water chemistry so it was...
