    It's been awhile. Seeking advice.

Thanks for all the responses. So, there is really no need to go with the RO water? Tap water is fine?

    It's been awhile. Seeking advice.

Hello All, It's been awhile since I took down my freshwater tanks as I am trying my hand at saltwater. My daughter is going to be setting up my freshwater tank (AGA 29 gallon) this weekend. She will have a typical community tank with fancy tail guppies, neon tetras, angel fish, etc. I'm...

Stand Height?? What do you guys like?

My opinion: You're going to spend most of your time sitting down in front of your tank staring into it. Most new stands are 28". I thought 28" was too low. I thought I wanted a 32" high stand. Then, I took the foot stool that I planned on using to observe my tank, sat on it, and realized...

    Normal?

I've had these yellow polyps for 2 weeks. The ones that are closed are always closed. They swell and look like they are going to burst-but they never open. Sometimes they swell at the bottom. Sometimes at the top. Are these new polyps that are still forming and will open someday? Or...

    top-off tank bulkhead

I want to set up a top-off tank to keep the water level in my sump consistent. I have the float and the 1/4" tubing. I cannot find a bulkhead connector for the top-off tank. Does anyone know where I can get a bulkhead connector for 1/4" compression fit tubing? Thanks, Rick

    pronunciations. . .

Is there a book, website, or forum that lists the phonic pronunciations to many of the words in the reef/saltwater hobby? There are a lot of new words to learn and I would like to know how to pronounce them correctly. Thanks, Rick

    ID please.

New tank and rock. Day 4. These brownish-orange guys are showing up on 3 different rocks. What are they and good/bad/etc.? And the other picture is a white guy that looks kind of like a corrugated lamp shade. He is deep inside a valley in a rock. Thanks

    It's Alive (Well. . . soon, hopefully)!

No cement. They sit, and are locked, pretty tight. As I'm sure most everyone here knows: It took 3 hours one day, 2 hours the next, and 2 more hours after that to get it how I wanted it. As far as the substrate goes: I read a few books, read a lot of posts on the forum, and asked a lot of...

I've had freshwater aquariums for years. This is my first venture into saltwater. 90 gallon AGA. 133lbs of Live Rock. Day 2. I'm really looking forward to "watching it grow."

Thanks Sati! So how do I post other pictures without putting them in my gallery? I saw the Properties of other peoples posts and they have an "aquarium advive" url location. How do I post pics to that URL?

    THE Book

I am looking for a book that would give me photo and a description of the characteristics of each of the most popular/common saltwater fish, corals, inverts, etc. I like the section in the Dr.s Foster and Smith catalog, but it doesn't list enough. Is there one book out there that is the...

    scratches in glass

When I cleaned the glass of my new (used) tank I noticed some scratches. Will small scratches become unnoticeable when I fill the tank with water? If not, is there a way to remove them before I fill the tank? Thanks

    I got One! Question. . .

Hello again everyone. I bought my first saltwater tank this weekend! It’s a 1 year old, 90 gallon set-up that was already torn down (the guy is moving). All-Glass Cherry stand, canopy, and drilled tank. Coralife Metal Halide lighting with 1 month old 10,000K German lamps, Sump with Wet/Dry...
